The first thing to note is that the greater the number of teeth or grooves, the more subtle the effect will be. Also, If you are cutting very thick hair, a pair of thinning shears with fewer teeth would get the job done more quickly.
On the other hand, when cutting fine hair or when you just want to add additional texture to a style, thinning scissors with more teeth would be best suited for the job.
